Wednesday was our second day in Florence and our second free day! We got up early to test the new hotels continental breakfast. Unfortunately, it was almost identical to the one at our hotel in Milano (we were all hoping for some pancakes and waffles). After breakfast we went out in the city to shop till we dropped! We went to both the open air markets and local boutiques. It was really fun to walk through the markets to see all of the merchandise hung from every possible surface. One of the best parts of the market, I have to say by far was the overwhelming smell of Italian leather. After walking through the markets we ventured over to see the Duomo of Florence. It was truly a spectacular sight, not quite as breathtaking as Milano’s, but it was still a magnificent church. After seeing Duomo we searched out a jewelry store that some of the other girls in our group were raving about. We were all on a search for any items that were made in Italy or Florence and that were reasonably inexpensive. One of my favorite purchases of the day was a silk scarf made in Florence!!
