Fashion vs. Art - Salvatore Ferragamo

-Column on  the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral
-Salvatore Ferragamo 18 kt gold sandal,1956.

Artifact:
The column shown above is from the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral located in the Duomo of Florence. The building was created by the sculptor Arnolfo di Cambio in 1296. The cathedral is known for its dome that is a staple in the Florence skyline.
Fashion:
Salvatore Ferragamo patented the metal sole in 1956. That same year he was asked to make the most expensive shoe he’d ever made, the 18 kt gold sandal shown above.
Fashion vs Art:
The spiral design on the strap of the sandal is the same shape as the column detail on the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. Both have the look as though they have been grabbed on each end and twisted to create a unique twisted design.
