"A Love Affair With Shoes"

Sign for the museum - Museo Salvatore Ferragamo
Walking down into the museum!
Friday was our last day in Florence. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed being in Florence, I was happy to escape from the tourists that constantly fill their streets. Before leaving for Milano, we went as a group this morning to the Salvatore Ferragamo museum. This was my favorite museum that we have visited yet. We were able to peruse through the museum at our own pace in the beginning. Next we got a group tour from the guides that provided a lot us with a lot more insider information that we wouldn’t have known otherwise. I was very thankful that the guides were willing to take the time to supply us with their knowledge. One of the guides in particular was very enthusiastic and you could see her passion for Ferragamo’s history and work. Besides seeing all of the amazing shoes, I really enjoyed seeing the wooden lasts for all of  his clients that he regularly designed shoes for. Ferragamo’s goal was to make fashionable shoes that were still affordable. In order to make his designs more affordable he used materials such as fish skin and cork. Stay tuned for a Fashion vs. Art assignment!!
As much as I loved experiencing Florence, it was nice to return to Milan. Coming back from Florence to Milan was like returning home after a short vacation. It was surprising to me that I felt like Milan was my home after just two weeks. I’m looking forward to making the most of the two weeks we have left in Milano!
